Lyrics
Light Feet (C Cain)
Light feet, when you’ve got your dancing shoes on
Light feet, they’re hardly there but they’re gone
A zephyr has flown beneath them
Down on a shift of air, that your cheek can’t even feel
You can’t predict the dance, or the time in the reel
An angel in free flight, and then the feather lands
A trick of how the wind blows, and a dream rests in your hands
Two skaters on a mirror floor, one above and one below
One being played on a film, one in the world we know
The line between wet and dry is like the edge of a dream
Sunlight casts their shapes on the bed of the stream
When I’m with you I can’t control my legs
they’re tethered down to two lumps of lead
either on their own or stuck down, both left and never right,
like neither of them are mine,
and they’re dancing in another time from you
